After a trip to ASDA yesterday, I had a real think about how much I over look the supermarket clothing ranges. After all, they are cheap, accessible and often on the trend. I thought I'd do a couple of blog posts about what I can find at the moment in George at ASDA, TU at Sainsburys and Florence & Fred at Tesco. I'm already impressed, and I've only done one post!
left to right:
camel trench coat - £25
printed palazzo trousers - £16
dipped hem skirt - £10
chunky cardigan - £12
ski pants - £6.25
George at Asda is a well known brand name, but not one I would immediately think of when discussing high street shopping. It caters for all ages, and perhaps that is why you don't often hear a blogger say they have a great shopping haul from George. When I had a quick look through the website though, I found some on trend pieces at affordable prices. Isn't that what we are all looking for?
The camel trench coat is definitely my favourite piece. Having tried it on in store, I can recommend it whole heartedly to my followers as the perfect coat for the spring to summer season. It's lightweight, made in good quality material for the price and fits well (especially for all us ladies who have curves). I'm not a big fan of palazzo pants as I know they won't suit my figure but I was amazed to spot these on the George website for the affordable price of £16. It's clearly one of their statement pieces for the new season, as it imitates the catwalk trend. The dipped hem skirt again imitates the new midi maxi skirt look, which I haven't quite grasped with both hands yet, but the price tag of £10 makes it a plausible wardrobe staple for the summer.
The season for heavy knitwear may be over, but the cream cardigan is an affordable piece for throwing on over your floral dresses during the summer, and wrapping up in on those colder days. I know there is a universal hate-love relationship with jeggings, but I am drawn to these ski pants in a grey beige colour. They're only £6.25 and I can imagine them being something I'd wear a lot. If you haven't got your breton striped top yet, George offer a £10 jumper version. It is three quartered sleeved for the new season, and would look effortlessly chic with a nice pair of jeans.
Seen anything you like? Head over to George next time you're doing your grocery shop and be pleasantly surprised with what they have to offer.
love the trench coat and the cardigan!

I've been considering investing in a Breton top for a while so this has definitely given me food for thought :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Fashion blogs in general tend to completely overlook supermarkets as places to shop!
ReplyDeleteLove the palazzo trousers :)

Thankyou for the lovely comments ladies. I'm in love with the trench coat, it's definitely on my wants list. I think I might keep a closer eye on supermarket clothing lines, I've been really surprised with what I have found.
