magazine roundup - vogue february

a new feature for sense & sensibility, i'm going to try and give a general round up of the fashion and beauty news from various magazines (look, more, vogue).

001. the sleeveless jacket may be the new wardrobe essential for the spring/summer season. it must be a tailored piece, made of light fabric for creating a soft silhouette like this one. colours seem to be varied - think black, grey, khaki cream and if you're brave enough, white.

002. the new l'oreal professional INOA is gaining respect throughout the beauty world. using no ammonia, the long lasting colour is being commended by a variety of top stylists. it's adding shine and softness, as well as giving depth to colour.

003. we know that bright colours are going to be very much 2011, but don't throw out last season's neutral colours yet. wear your neutral tones with a flash of bright colours to gradually transform your wardrobe from 2010 to 2011.

004. fashion is going gentle. ditch your defining shoulder pads for soft silhouettes and floaty materials. layer lightweight basics with sheer pieces to update your look. think a long tee with a sheer blouse over it.

005. bags are going big. i'm sure many thought we'd never see the day where vogue devoted a whole page to shopper bags, but its definitely in print. you can have your shopper in any style though - brightly coloured, supple leather or a cheeky leopard print.

006. to compliment the bright colours of your outfit, make up is being toned down for the spring summer season. don't get out your browns and creams quite yet though - think light blue, soft yellows and gentle greens. there is a spring colour for every eye.

007. for your basics collection, bodies and leotards have been seen on many a catwalk, including lanvin (remember their beautiful collection for h&m?). pair your body up with anything - flowing skirts, high waisted shorts or tight jeans. just keep it streamlined; elegance is the key.

008. it's springtime, which means floral time. make your florals sheer this season, and vogue recommend pairing them with light chiffon. keira knightley shows us exactly the way to do this.
